Dangerous Goods are articles or substances, which are capable of posing a risk to health, safety, property or the enviroment when transported. If regulations are followed, transporting such items can be safe.
Regulations covering the procedures to be followed by everyone involved in preparing a consignment and placing it on a vessel or aircraft have been develepoed on an international level. Every country may also develop more stringent regulations, these are called State Variations.
Dangerous goods are divided into nine classes reflecting the type of risk involved and do not imply the degree of danger in the manner listed

CLASS 3 - FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS
CLASS 4 - FLAMMABLE SOLIDS(Substance than can potentially combustance
when in conatct with another substance or
gas)
CLASS 5 - OXIDIZING SUBSTANCE
CLASS 6 - TOXIC AND INFECTIOUS SUBSTANCES
CLASS 7 - RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL
CLASS 8 - CORROSIVES
CLASS 9 MISCELLANEOUS DANGEROUS GOODS
